See Mufasa’s story and others by purchasing the 2019 Free Roaming Feline Calendar, available at Two Rivers Veterinary Clinic, Port Cities Animal Hospital, the Silver Lake Country Store and Shoreline Pet Plaza. The calendar is $10 and proceeds are an important part in covering the cost of finding forever homes for all of our feline roamers.
Mufasa came to the Roamer Program when someone found him out and about. He was friendly and already neutered. On first appearance, he seemed young because of his small size. Upon examination, it was discovered that he was a senior citizen. He went into foster care and started thyroid medication to address a physical problem quite common in elderly felines. Gaining weight was difficult, but despite his senior problems, was a happy camper and enjoyed life. He was adopted by someone whose heart went out to him because he was such a great guy and it was felt he just needed a chance to be a part of a forever home where he could be loved and cared for.
Mufasa flowered in his new forever home. He lived with another feline and two dogs. He loved everyone and everything. His forever parents discovered that he loved riding in their pick-up truck and he waited for the opportunity to take an afternoon ride. He went for walks in his harness, started to gain a little weight, and brought joy to all he met.
One afternoon, Mufasa took a nap. He never awoke. He was probably between 10 and 15 years old. Although a stray, whom we think was abandoned because of his age, Mufasa’s final time was filled with love and care. His paw prints are on the hearts of all who knew him.
